Let me give you an introduction to the Jeepney Chronicles first. The term was actually coined by a friend of mine back when she and I were still working together. Since I started working at my current job, I commute every day, with the jeepney as the main vehicle of use. My commute time ranges from 20 minutes to excruciating and ass-flattening 2 hours, depending on the traffic. In almost five years, I have compiled a lot of experiences of a daily commuter—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Fresa, a colleague of mine has been telling me for so long that I should blog about these stories. Since gtakesontheworld is my new baby, why not make it happen! So I’m making a new category under my blog posts on all things jeepney-ride related. Let us start, shall we? Date: April 15, 2016 Work Shift: Night Subject: Annoying teenage couple Tonight is one of those rare nights when there is a scarcity with jeepneys. As I heard, Duterte was in town. Boohoo all you election candidates! You make our commute lives miserable! Anyways, since the number of commuters is way higher than the jeepney supply on the road, passengers were most of the time in the sardines-like state—overcrowding at its finest! Geez, there’s just too much body heat emanating from each other and it’s freaking 35°C outside, even at night! This kid, a girl, sitting beside me on my left, and her boyfriend, who was seated directly in front of me, maybe both 16-ish to 18-ish, can’t get enough of each other. They kept on fondling each other’s hands and were both leaning forward, maybe just to be somewhat closer to each other since they did not get to seat together. The guy had these puppy dog eyes staring unblinkingly at his girlfriend. Cringe-worthy hahaha, sue me! You know how kids are nowadays, or how new couples act when they are really new? Yep, these two kids are like that. My plan was to ignore them during the whole commute since I think PDA-ing couples on jeepneys are really annoying. But these two kids’ eloped hands kept on accidentally touching my left knee. LOL whatever happened to my plan of ignoring them both. So on the third time, I touched my left knee to give them a clue na “Hey! Stop touching me and please keep your hands to yourselves!” hahaha! I think they got the message (wink, wink!). When given the chance to seat beside each other, the guy looked pleadingly at the girl for her to transfer beside him, and so she did. Clingy, I thought. Right then and there, the guy leaned/hugged his girlfriend. Again, clingy. LOL. Good thing is, sila yung taga-abot ng bayad sa driver. At least may pakinabang. Hahahaha! Anyways I reached my destination ahead of them. This is actually a typical jeepney scenario. It’s just that the jeep is really crowded at this one and they kept on touching my knee. That’s why they stood out and their story is the first one to get featured here on my blog! Fresh out of experience! Cheers to more annoying-funny stories! G
